Description

When working in science, especially which is funded by the public, it is the duty of the researchers to communicate their work back to the public in a way that is interesting, relatable, and understandable. Considering the public responds best to entertainment, what better way to communicate science than using the power of performing arts. During the Virtual Networking Session, we will conduct a workshop (illustrative dance performance on immunology of transplant rejection) followed by round table discussion on how we can use performing arts towards science public outreach. The workshop will involve a demonstrative and an interactive session of using movement to describe basic biological units, for example, cells, molecules, changes in shape, interaction. This will be followed by a roundtable session which will involve discussing how performing arts such as theater, dance and music could and should be used in education and outreach of basic biological science research.
