Dr. Castro received her medical degree in Brazil. After the Internal Medicine Residency and a Nephrology Residency at Sao Paulo University, Dr. Castro completed a Fellowship on Renal Transplantation at Necker Hospital, University of Paris, France.
She completed her doctorate in Medicine at Sao Paulo University. She is an Associate Professor of Nephrology, a member of the staff of The Renal and Pancreas Transplantation Unit, and of the Clinical Research Group on Transplantation at Sao Paulo University.
Past President of the President of the Brazilian Society of Organ Transplantation, member of the National Advisory Committee on Renal Transplantation, and member of numerous societies on Nephrology and Transplantation. Her main interests are immunosuppression, immunobiology, histocompatibility and kidney transplantation. She is currently TTS councilor for Latin America (2020-2022) and Chair of the Women in Transplantation Brazilian Chapter.
