Dr. Kenneth Chok graduated from the University of Hong Kong. He soon became the Consultant Surgeon and Faculty Member after his fellowship in Hepatobiliary Surgery. He further subspecialized to be the liver transplant surgeon under the leadership of Professors ST Fan and CM Lo. He obtained his doctoral degree (Master of Surgery) on the title of “Management of biliary complications in Living Donor Liver Transplantation” in 2015. He is currently the Surgeon in-charge of the High Dependency Unit (Department of Surgery) at Queen Mary Hospital, Honorary Consultant at the Queen Mary/ Tung Wah Hospitals and Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Hong Kong. He is one of the most renowned Hepatobiliary and Liver Transplant Surgeons in Hong Kong. His main research and clinical excellence is on the management of Hepatocellular Carcinoma in Liver Transplant and Molecular Markers for Pancreatic Cancer. He is also one of the pioneers in advocating Minimally Invasive Hepatobiliary Surgery and Associating Liver Partition and Portal Vein Ligation for Staged Hepatectomy (ALPPS) in the territory. He has involved in numerous innovative procedures such as donor interchange, combined heart-liver transplantation, domino transplant, ABO incompatible liver transplant, in-situ splitting of the deceased liver grafts, simultaneous implantation of two live donor liver grafts (World’s first) and liver transplant with simultaneous aortic arch replacement (Asia’s First). He published more than 180 peer-reviewed articles in high impact journals including Annals of Surgery, British Journal of Surgery, Hepatology and Liver Transplantation. He had been invited to talk on local media repeatedly and as a speaker at local and international conferences, Owing to his outstanding research and clinical performance, he was awarded Carlos Pellegrini Traveling Fellowship in 2015 from the American College of Surgeons. He is also the Associate Editor for Hepatoma Research and editorial board member for World Journal of Gastroenterology, World Journal of Hepatology and World Journal of Surgical Oncology. Apart from his excellent clinical and research works, he is committed to promote organ donation in Hong Kong and is now the Honorary Treasurer for Hong Kong Society of Transplantation and Council member for Hong Kong Liver Foundation. He is also the finance committee member for the International Liver Transplant Society (ILTS).
