Professor and Head of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics at NHS Blood & Transplant, Birmingham, which provides a central H&I service to the solid organ and stem cell transplant units in the West Midlands. He has a long-standing interest in HLA antibody incompatible renal transplantation (AIT) and he helped establish the UK’s largest renal AIT programme at the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwick. His research interests include understanding antibody responses in transplantation and HLA and NK cell receptor genetics in populations and transplantation. He is an honorary professor in the Institute of Immunology and Immunotherapy, University of Birmingham.
