Ian Dittmer is a Transplant Nephrologist who has worked in the unit since 1998. His main interests are Transplant immunology and Ethical Issues in transplantation. Ian went to Medical School in Otago, then moved to Auckland on graduation in 1986 and completed training in Renal Medicine. Ian spent 3 years in Gloucester and Bristol as a Fellow, mainly in Clinical Transplantation.
He is a Custodian of the Declaration of Istanbul, an international transplant society initiative to monitor and improve ethical practices in transplantation. He is also a member of the Transplantation Society ethics board.
