Monday September 14, 2020 | 09:00 to 10:30
Room: Networking 1

Description

Consent models for deceased organ and tissue donation is often the most public facing aspect of organ donation and transplantation (ODT) systems, and the one that generates the most interest from politicians and policy makers. Models vary across the world and usually are implemented as part of overall ODT reform. There is no clear consensus of one model being more effective than others. The goal of this round table is to discuss some of the important points systems considering a shift in their consent model should be aware of such as: 1) implementation lessons such as effective public and professional education, 2) legal and ethical challenges, 3) quality and research measures that should be used to judge effectiveness of reform, and 4) other issues identified during the discussion.
