Biography

José María Aguado is Professor of Medicine at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and Head of the Infectious Diseases Unit of the Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre in Madrid. Completed their training at the Institute of Transplantation, University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. He is past-Chairman and currently Scientific Officer of the Study Group of Infection in Compromised Patients (ESGICH) of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID). Coordinator of the Program of Transplant Infections of the National Network of Infectious Diseases (REIPI). Member of the Spanish National Advisory Health Council. Member of the International Council of the International Immunocompromised Host Society. Councilor of the Transplant Infectious Diseases Group (TTS). Fellow of the European Confederation of Medical Mycology (ECMM). Fellow of ESCMID. Assistant Editor of Transplant Infectious Diseases. He has published over 400 articles (h index 49, Average citations per item 17,24), most of them related to the infection in transplant recipients and other immunocompromised patients.
