Biography

Julie Heimbach is a Professor of Surgery and the Chair of Division of Transplantation at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Rochester, MN. She received her undergraduate degree from Carleton College, her M.D. degree from the University of Minnesota, her training in General Surgery at the University of Colorado, and finally Fellowship in Transplantation Surgery at Mayo Clinic. She has dedicated a significant amount of time to UNOS, having served on numerous committees as well as the Board of Directors, and most recently, as the chair of the liver-Intestine committee. Dr. Heimbach currently serves on the ASTS council and an Associate Editor for the American Journal of Transplantation, and was previously on Governing Board of the AASLD. Her clinical and research interests include liver transplantation for hepatobiliary malignancies, living donor transplantation, and obesity in liver transplantation.
