Biography


Born in Barcelona obtained the MD degree at the University of Barcelona in 1980 and trained as a Nephrologist at the Hospital de Bellvitge in Barcelona. In 1988 he obtained  the PhD degree at the University of Barcelona and in 1995 a MSc degree (bioengineering) at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. He has been Research-Fellow between 1987-1988 at Guy´s Hospital, London. Between 1988-2009 he has been Consultant of Nephrology at the Renal Transplant Unit of the Hospital de Bellvitge and Professor of Medicine at the University of Barcelona.

Since 2009 he is Head of the Nephrology Department at Hospital Vall d’Hebron in Barcelona and Professor of Medicine at The Autonomous University of Barcelona. His main interest is focused in the study of anatomo-clinical correlations in renal transplant patients. He has been the author of more than 200  articles and the director of different doctoral thesis.
