Objective: End-stage kidney disease is gradually increasing all over the world. In these patients, hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, or kidney transplant methods are used as replacement therapy. Kidney transplantation is the best treatment option because it improves the quality of life and reduces cost. In this study, the 1-year, 5-year, and 10-year survival results of patients who underwent kidney transplantation in our center were examined.
Method: 999 kidney transplants, which were performed in Bursa Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine Organ Transplant Center between 1988-2019, were included in the study. The patients' lifespan was calculated as weeks, and the 1-year 5-year and 10-year lifetimes were determined using the Kaplan Meier method of the Spss program.
Results: Within the scope of the research, 999 people was included in the study.  (166 (16.6%) kidney transplant died. 588 men, mean age 37.24 ± 14.03 years, 411 women; mean age 36.76 ± 14.22 years. 294 men, mean age 33.27 ± 12.15 years, 193 women; mean age 33.13 ± 12.75 years and cadaver kidney 294 men, mean age 41.21 ± 14.66 years 218 women; mean age 39.98 ± 14.70 years).  The number of patients over 60 years old with a kidney transplant is 37. 13 (35%) of transplants aged 60 and over died.  962 kidney transplants were performed under the age of 60. 153 (15.9%) of 962 kidney transplants died.  The 1-year life span of the patients who underwent kidney transplantation is 92.2%. The 5-year life span is 84.7%. The 10-year life span is 80.6%.
Conclusion: When kidney transplants at Bursa Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine Organ Transplant Center are evaluated for 1 year, 5 years and 10 years, kidney transplants are a suitable treatment method for the recovery of patients' health, but due to the variety of donor pool, the life span of patients with kidney transplantation.
