2020-09-14 15:10 Very reasonable questions. There has been a shift over time from thinking about urine and blood PCRs to just blood. The field is hobbled by the lack of good therapies for BKV, although that might conceivably change, with the advent of a monoclonal Ab in clinical trials. 2020-09-14 07:53 Hi Dominique Covid-19 had its impact on transplantation all over the world including MENA region. Most transplant programs were halted for a while fearing for spread of virus among tx recipients. Things are better now and most programs are returning to normal activity taking special precautions to prevent spread of virus through deceased and living donors. Of course the rate of deceased donations dropped as well perhaps due to ICUs being full. MENA region challenges and opportunities for organ donation and transplantation
2020-09-14 07:42 Hello everyone Unfortunately I can't attend the MENA regional session as I'm speaking in another session at this time but I have a question for the panel if possible... I was wondering how COVID has affected donation and transplantation programs in the region both directly and indirectly, e.g. through the impact on international travel of migrant workers. I look forward to catching up with the recording of the session later. Many thanks! Dominique MENA region challenges and opportunities for organ donation and transplantation
2020-09-14 07:40 Dear Elmi, could you tell us a bit about the unique challenges developing countries (and developing transplant programs) are facing due to Covid-19? How has Covid-19 affected the way Tx programs function (in general) and more specifically how has it affected organ allocation protocols/decisions? Meet the TTS Councilor Session with Elmi Muller

2020-09-14 05:54 Nice to meet you Dr. Shapiro. With respect to BK polyomavirus in renal transplant recipients, viral loads cut off that are proposed as indicators of risk of PVAN development had been established in 2005. Why do you think they have never been updated after that? Taking into account all the knowledge that we have now about the impact of different techniques in resulting viral load detected by Real Time PCR. I mean, don't you think it is necessary standardization between labs to be sure that we all are comparing the same thing? Meet the TTS Councilor Session with Ron Shapiro

2020-09-13 23:48 Dear Professor Marcello I can not see the presentation if there is one . I would be interested to know about the experince you may may share on transplantation in LMIC kidney transnnplantatio , Since I am fro Ethiopia , in Eastern Africa., I would specifically be interested in continuing the fellowship program of Kidney transpantation since it is currently the only program we have . And secondly on setting up deceased donation which is key for incresing the donor pool but a constant challege here which seem to be unattainable thus far Meet the TTS Councilor Session with Marcelo Cantarovich
2020-09-13 23:40 Answer to Dr. Cowan. Thank you for your question. Based on the results to date, immunosuppressants for corneal xenotransplantation should be used more strongly than those used for corneal allotransplantation (for both T and B cells). Only anti-CD40 Ab- or anti-CD20 Ab/tacrolimus- based immunosuppressive regimen showed efficacy in preclinical study using NHPs. Therefore, in our clinical trial, anti-CD20 Ab/tacrolimus based immunosuppressive regimen will be used. Design of Xenotransplantation Clinical Trials

2020-09-13 21:35 Based on studies it is advisable to promote men as donors as compared to women as women have smaller size of kidneys with lower nephron count as compared to men which is likely to have an effect in the long term. we Should all promote male donors for longer survival particularly for men. 2020-09-13 15:52 Dear Jean C. Emond I have enjoyed your presentation , the message I took from your conclusion is that since COVID will likely remain to be endemic disease resuming transplantation should be considered. I live IN Ethiopia Eastern Africa, We started our first live donor Kidney transplant center in the country in 2015. We have a very strict criteria of selection in this related only LDKT since we dont have so much of the guagets and medications to manage the complications after transplantation. We have stopped completely transnplantation services ( used to be up to four cases a month) Because of Covid 19 since March. It seems that the newly diagnoed COVID cases are peaking up now. What do you suggest about resuming and when? What id the experience in New York , the rest of US and else where9 Would be greatful if you have resources Warmly Transplanting in the Era of COVID-19

2020-09-12 00:26 Congratulations on your poster. I'm looking forward to see more in detail your results. I have a question: How do you explain that the venous flow was higher than the arterial flow? (mean renal artery blood flow was 450.74 ml/min (median=425) and the mean renal vein flow was 541.49 ml/min (median=470)). Could you provide the interquartile ranges of your flows?
